Granville Terre et Mer Tourist Office formalizes its CSR approach

CSR for Tourist Offices

An operational action plan

In 2021, the Granville Terre et Mer Tourist Office joined the regional project to support Normandy Tourist Offices, to implement a sustainable development and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach within the structure. This approach – federated by OTN and financially supported by AFDAS – contributes to the region’s tourism development strategy, and makes it possible to promote this positioning to customers for both Destination Normande and Granville Terre et Mer.

What is CSR?

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is the contribution made by companies or organizations to the economic, social and environmental challenges of sustainable development. Committing to CSR means developing astrategic approach for the company aimed at combining economic performance with the social and environmental concerns of society by working closely with the players in its environment.

Following on from the sustainable actions now being carried out since 2019, the Office de Tourisme Granville Terre et Mer has decided to embark on this approach at the initiative of Office de Tourisme de Normandie, which proposed to a small number of Normandy tourist offices to contribute to the development of a CSR reference framework for tourist offices.

Benefiting from the accompaniment of the Linea consultancy with the support of AFDAS, the Tourist Office is therefore working on the development of a CSR action plan which will be updated annually.

This collective work on the CSR repository and the support in drawing up the CSR action plan have enabled the integration of the entire team in the piloting of these actions and the reflection on the positioning of the Office de Tourisme in a “mission-driven” approach over the long term.

The action plan aims to:

  • Formalize tools (dashboards, charter of supplier commitments, CSR report…)
  • Define objectives with third parties (cleaning company, community of municipalities, energy supplier…)
  • Restart internal times (3D, prospective and strategy workshops, new web ecosystem, raison d’être, green team…)
  • Appoint (recruitment and sponsorship)
  • Continue our actions in terms of responsible tourism (boutique policy, promotion of the offer, awareness-raising, sustainable module in the MOOC Chuchoteur d’info, publishing policy…)
  • Initiate reflection (participation in Duo-Day, GHG calculation…)
