Discover Chausey

in a different light

You’ll meet Maud Hortala at the ferry terminal to board the Jolie France launches, bound for Chausey. At the end of the 50-minute crossing to thearchipelago, you’ll disembark on the Grande Île and begin your walk along the coastal path, before receiving the equipment you’ll need to put your talents to work: Japanese brushes, watercolors, Indian ink…

Start soaking up the beauty of the surroundings at Port Marie or near the Sound to drawwatercolor backgrounds under Maud’s watchful eye. You can then concentrate, listening to the sounds of the seabirds as you apply yourself.

Practice and

Contemplate

Once your backgrounds have dried, Maud explains how to useIndian ink. You’ll start practicing with a practice sketch under Maud’s expert and sympathetic eye. No need to panic! No pre-requisite skills, just the risk of gettingink on your fingers…

It’s time for the artists’ break, and with your picnic, you can chat with other participants while taking in the scenery. The colors have already changed since the morning, and you’re accompanied by the scents of iodine and flowering broom and gorse.

Reveal the artist

that's inside you

You then set off to discover the Grande Île, following the coastal path to respect this protected area. You then begin drawing your views, such as the Village des Blainvillais, the Chausey Lighthouse, Château Renault and Marin Marie’s house, to name but a few… Each of you transcribes what you see inIndian ink onto your watercolor backgrounds, helped by Maud as needed.

Once you’ve completed your 10 views, on a variety of colored backgrounds, showing the diversity of the archipelago’s landscapes, you can relax for a snack before getting back on the shuttle… And keep your little treasures for yourself, to give as gifts or display in your home with pride!
