of the À Fond La Cale festivalThe “À Fond la Cale” Festival presents its 24th edition from August 8 to 11, 2023. As wacky and offbeat as ever, the festival is above all UNIQUE, with its race of Unidentified Floating Objects (UFOs) and its race of the “joyful whalers of the Saint-Martinade”, unique in France! Combining shows, concerts, street entertainment, a craft market, an aperitif and many other surprises, this carnival of the sea is THE must-see vacation event at Saint-Martin de Bréhal. The seaside resort sees its streets come alive for 4 days, with young and old alike enjoying the festivities with friends and family.
Two races
unusual and cheerfulThe festival is an opportunity to have fun, stroll in the UFO parade and dance in front of the sea! On Sunday, two unusual and joyful races follow one another. First, the famous “Objets Flottants Non Identifiés” (Unidentified Floating Objects) race, a veritable carnival of the sea where participants compete in ingenuity to build a boat and throw themselves into the sea for an improbable regatta. Last but not least, the famous “Happy Whalers of the Saint-Martinade” race sees competitors in whale buoys set off in a frantic race across the open sea in the hope of winning their weight in mussels! There’s something for everyone at this 100% free, completely wacky festival!
