Inspiring and cultural destination

In September, Granville Terre et Mer celebrates creativity in all its forms!

This year, culture and creativity will be the order of the day in September at Destination Granville Terre et Mer! Granville Terre et Mer will be celebrating creativity in all its diversity throughout the month of September, with its iodine-filled light, inspiring heritage and artistic effervescence. With the France Design Week, Journées Nationales des Artistes and Journées Européennes du Patrimoine, Granville Terre et Mer is shining the spotlight on those who make the area so vibrant: designers, artists, craftspeople, chefs, creators of shapes and flavours. They all play a part in telling the story of this inspiring destination. The childhood home of Christian Dior, Granville Terre et Mer inspires the artists of yesteryear and nurtures the rising talents of the young generation. Its visionary spirit, that of a designer enlightened by the light, the lines of Norman houses and gardens overlooking the sea. This heritage is reflected in the work of craftsmen, the creations of artists, the dishes of chefs and the materials invented by designers. Between heritage and modernity, creativity is the common thread running through the month of September at three flagship events:

  • Les Journées Nationales des Artistes – 13 & 14 septembre 2025
  • France Design Week – du 12 au 30 septembre 2025
  • Les Journées Européennes du Patrimoine – 19, 20 et 21 septembre 2025

Granville Terre et Mer invites à explore this breeding ground for inspiration, where creativity is part of everyday life.

France Design Week

From 12 to 30 September 2025
Useful design

The France Design Week puts the spotlight on design, its expertise and its players through exhibitions, conférences, visits and workshops. The aim is to raise the profile of design locally, nationally and internationally. This year, designers will be creating, sharing their work and introducing the public to the theme of “useful design” at workshops and tours. In Granville Terre et Mer, design will be expressed through ceramics, fashion, crafts and culinary design, revealing a region where creativity meets history, know-how, innovation and transmission. ENSAAMA will be showcasing innovative projects that address the challenges of inclusion, in conjunction with local professionals, at an exhibition at Plat Gousset.

National Artists' Days

13 and 14 September 2025
First national edition

<Sponsored by Rachida Dati, the French Minister of Culture, and organised in partnership with the Association des Maires de France and the Maison des Artistes, the Journées Nationales des Artistes invite artists to open the doors of their studios, exhibit their work and encourage encounters around sculpture, painting and ceramics. In Granville Terre et Mer, art galleries and workshops are springing up all around the streets. Some of them will be opening their doors to the public for this special event.

European Heritage Days

20 and 21 September 2025
42nd edition

This major cultural event, organised by the Ministry of Culture since 1984, aims to bring the wealth of our heritage to as many people as possible through special events, unusual visits and exceptional openings in over 50 countries. Tens of thousands of museums, monuments, churches, theatres, businesses and shops and gardens are opening their doors to share their history and their special features. Each year, Granville Terre et Mer opens the doors of its emblematic sites: the Oratoire Saint-Gaud, the Château de Chanteloup, the centre and many other places usually closed to the public. An invitation to (re)discover the richness of the region through guided tours, exhibitions and events.
