Every year atAbbaye de la Lucerne, Norman history takes center stage with the reconstruction of a real Viking camp.

Every summer, around the celebration of Saint Olaf, king and patron saint of Norway, theAbbaye de la Lucerne organizes an entire weekend to pay tribute to theScandinavian heritage and the first founders of Normandy. Camps, re-enactments, battles, crafts… A wide range of Viking and Norman arts are duly represented.

For the 8th edition, a Viking camp will be entirely reconstructed. During these historic days, meet craftsmen and volunteer re-enactment groups, talk with a lecturer and discover the customs of the men of the North with your family for an immersion in the heart of Normandy. With the participation of several volunteer companies and local merchants. You’ll be able to explore the village’s various campsites and talk to passionate craftsmen who will be delighted to show you their tents, furniture, furs and unique creations, for an immersion in the daily life of the Vikings.

July 27

10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • 10:30am: “Vikings and abbeys” with Simon Tasset. Bookings required on 06 84 98 41 25.
  • 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.: horse-drawn demonstration by the Cava’l’drir company.
  • 2:00 pm: “Abbey builders” with Simon Tasset. Book on 06 84 98 41 25.
  • 2:30pm: Weapons demonstration with the Kjarrborg clan.
  • 4:30pm: lecture “Rollon: Une autre vision du fondateur de la Normandie” by Simon Tasset.
  • 6:30pm: St. Olaf’s mass sounded by the Rallye Trompes du Cotentin and sung by the St. Michael Boys’ Choir from Tallinn.
Sunday

July 28

10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.: horse demonstration by the Cava’l’drir company.
  • 2:00 pm: Les vikings et les d’abbayes ” with Simon Tasset. Bookings required on 06 84 98 41.

Rates

  • Adult full price: €10.
  • Reduced rate on presentation of proof of entitlement (members of the Friends of La Lucerne Abbey, unemployed, disabled, tourism professionals, students): €8.
  • Children (aged 5 to 17): €6.50.
  • Free for children under 5.
  • Family package (2 parents and 3 children maximum): €35.

Profits from these historic days contribute to the preservation and restoration of La Lucerne Abbey by supporting the owner’s “Fondation Abbaye de La Lucerne d’Outremer”.Outremer Abbey Foundation”, which is responsible for the management, upkeep, restoration and animation of the site, listed as a Monument Historique since 1928.
