Andrea Gillet-Caratti

After graduating in hotel and restaurant management in Switzerland, Andrea spent ten years working abroad in some of the world’s top hotels. Herloveof Normandy, and more specifically of Granville Terre et Mer, caught up with her, as did her childhood memories of spending all her vacations with her grandparents in Jullouville and Carolles. She wanted to return to a life closer to nature, and reconnect with her passion for horses. She acquired this passion during her childhood and youth, when she practiced horse riding at a high level, taking part in the French eventing championships on ponies.

Meet the...

Andrea

3 years ago, Andrea started her business in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, with three horses: Ennio, Juju and Galleos. They are of different breeds and have all managed to adapt to outdoor work, which makes them happy. Andrea acquired a plot of land for her business and now owns 7 horses who live outdoors and in herds in the fields above Saint-Pair-sur-Mer. Their well-being is paramount, which is why ” a horse doesn’t go out for more than 4 hours a day, and Caporal, no more than 2 times a day “. Andrea cares for her horses every day after a ride, showering, grooming and, of course, feeding them.

Horseback riding

Andrea offers one-, two- and three-hour horseback ridesbetween land and sea, along country lanes and on the beach, or full-day outings, with picnic lunches, to either La Lucerne d’Outremer or the Cabane Vauban. Andrea confides:

For the hike to the Cabane Vauban, I offer a lunch of local produce from the Granville market. I also offer two-day hikes, such as to the havre de la Vanlée, and I can welcome an international clientele because I’m bilingual “.

Extremely safety-conscious, she adapts her rides to the level of the rider, whether beginner or experienced.

Horse-drawn carriage rides

After acquiring Caporal, a 12-year-old cob from Normandy, who used to shuttle tourists to Mont-Saint-Michel, Andrea now offers carriage rides along bocage paths and on the beach. Andrea also provides entertainment for local events (Spring Festival at Château de Chanteloup, summer and Christmas markets) and festive occasions (birthdays, weddings).

In his spare time

In her “off” moments, Andrea rides horses with her partner, doing endurance races and gardening. Andrea particularly likes to recharge her batteries on the beach at Saint-Pair-sur-Mer. Andrea’s eyes light up when she talks about her horses:

Horses soothe me. I observe them a lot and I know their personalities. They’re my life companions.
