A young man from Granville

Sea lovers

Anaël is 15 and lives in Granville. Since 2024, he has taken up windsurfing, a sport he loves. But he’s known the sea for a long time! From a very young age, he has practised paddle, sand yachting and catamaran sailing. It was his dad, an instructor at 8 Milles Nautic, who gave him a taste for water sports. Together, they share some great moments on the water, often accompanied by his sisters, Olivia and Céleste.

Its beginnings

on the board

Anaël discovered windsurfing at the age of 8. The first few times were not easy, but thanks to his motivation, he managed to progress. His father helped him at the start, but Anaël continued on his own, training often. What does he enjoy most? The thrills, the speed and the pleasure of sharing these moments with his family.

A complete sportsman

As well as windsurfing, Anaël also enjoys running and cross-fit. These sports help him stay in shape to perform better on the water. He has already taken part in two windsurfing competitions, in Agon-Coutainville and Saint-Martin de Bréhal. One of his fondest memories is sailing in Brittany with his dad in strong winds. Another highlight was when he managed to overtake his father in a session. A real source of pride for him! But not everything is easy. He remembers one difficult outing, with lots of waves and two hours spent struggling to pass the helm. But he never gave up. A family role model When Anaël is asked if he has a role model in windsurfing, he doesn’t mention a world star like Kai Lenny. For him, his real role models are his father and his sisters, Olivia and Céleste.

Its spotlight

preferred

Anaël particularly likes sailing at Bréville-sur-Mer. The conditions are often good and there are fewer waves, which makes sailing more enjoyable. Each session is well prepared Before each session, Anaël has a ritual: he warms up and does a little visualisation exercise. He sets himself goals to improve on each outing. And when he’s not on the water? When he’s not windsurfing, Anaël likes to take in the scenery of his region. He loves watching the sunset at Pointe du Roc or walking along the lanes of Saint-Pair-sur-Mer.
