EmilieAssociation a horse, a guide to balance and freedom

Emilie

Cover the portrait of Emilie, creator of the association Un cheval, un guide vers l’équilibre et la liberté à la Lucerne d’Outremer

Emilie was due to stay in La Manche for 3 monthsthat was 20 years ago

After studying sport at university in the south of France, Émilie came to La Manche to work as a replacement at a show barn and has never left.Passionate about horses, she has had many experiences in the horse world: She lived very close to horses, and what she enjoyed most was the bond she formed with them. She ended up setting up her own business in La Lucerne-d’Outremer, specialising in show jumping horses. Over time, she came to realise that horses had enabled her to get to know and understand herself better. The horse is an intricate, deeply rooted animal with a great heart. They can be both reassuring and impressive at first sight, but they have a unique ability to create a bond with people and make people feel emotions. She did a training course with François Pignon, during which she spent a lot of time on foot, in longe, at the horses’ sides, listening to them and understanding their attitude.

People used to bring me their horse so that I could accompany them, then I realised that you also have to accompany the rider for it to work, and find the balance in the duo.

The équine m´diation became an évidence for her when she noticed the impact horses could have on humans, whether they were riders or not. Emilie therefore took a « Le savoir être et les chevaux » training course with Walter Badet. This is how, in 2021, the association Un cheval, un guide : vers l’équilibre et la liberté was born. Thanks to this structure, Eacute;milie is able to support a variety of audiences through horse riding: riders, children, families, but also patients at the day hospital, residents of EHPAD or young people from the local mission. The sessions last two hours, either individually or in small groups of no more than three participants. Eacute;milie guides participants through herds of 3 à 6 horses, and it’s the animal itself that chooses the person it wishes to work with.

Between the horses and ponies, there are 26 équidés, about fifteen of which are dedicated to different activities: découvertes, loisirs, médiation, accompagnement…

Émilie bought a simulator four years ago. After testing it on numerous occasions with her creators, she was won over by its benefits for both riders and riders-to-be. Thanks to its micro-movements, the simulator helps to relax the body and remove blockages. It helps you let yourself be carried away, refocus on yourself and free up the flow of energy. The association offers one-to-one or small-group courses, as well as sessions in collaboration with sophrologists, energists, Qi gong teachers and masseurs. The aim is to offer a different dimension to support and to build bridges between different disciplines. What Émilie particularly likes about her job is the constant learning process. Every day, she learns from children, horses and riders. A real sense of change is established, a diversity in practice that makes her job lively and exciting. She recently began training in Equi coaching to continue her education.

I want to open up the world of horses, to show that horse riding is not just a sporting discipline, but that there are many complementary practices linked to this animal. It’s not a game, it’s a pleasure.
