Honey and bees

Granville Terre et Mer, a dream destination for bees! Our flower-filled meadows and verdant bocage are the perfect indicators… The bees on our territory are happy and feel right at home! World Bees Day takes place on May 20, a reminder that bees play a vital role in our ecosystem. Granville Terre et Mer is a destination that loves bees!

The bees

what are they for?

Bees are brave! These little flying insects thrive in a flowery environment where it’s good to collect (or “forage”) from the bottom of flowers. They choose flowers rich in nectar and bring it back to the hive. Other bees collect the nectar and store it in honeycombs, where it matures into honey. Local beekeepers then collect the nectar to delight our taste buds! The pollen deposited by the bees makes nature lush and colorful. Our entire ecosystem depends on these little flying fairies. With our 287 km² surface area and the richness of our bocage, bees have plenty to do! From the roses of Jardin Dior, to the brooms of the GR223 in Carolles, or the daffodils in the Lucerne forest, there’s something for everyone!
