With Martine

Martine Laforgue Chambre d'hôtes La Bellevue

Welcome to

a guest room

emblematic of the Destination

You have an appointment with Martine, the manager, with her husband Germain, of the bed and breakfast “La Bellevue”. For connoisseurs of the Destination, whether locals or regular visitors, this house, situated on the heights of Bréville-sur-Mer, is known for having long been “La Mougine des Moulins à Vents”, a former hotel founded in 1963. Martine gives you a warm welcome and tells you all about the history of the house in the lobby and breakfast room. The couple bought the bed and breakfast in 2021 and refurbished it with lots of second-hand furniture, giving it a second life. After this introduction, during which Martine will have offered you a hot drink, you walk through the family’s living space to the light-filled kitchen.. where the view stretches out over the property’s garden on one side, and the sea on the other, with the archipelago of the Chausey Islands on the horizon.

You're the one

the cook!

You’ll find yourself in the family kitchen, where Martine indulges her passion for cooking! Before your appointment, Martine will have checked with you about any allergies and what you would like to learn with her. The general inspiration is Asian cuisine, but it will be adapted using local and seasonal produce, some of which comes directly from the kitchen garden. With your aprons in place, Martine will show you the menu that will be prepared and present the ingredients, including the vegetables or shellfish to be cut up, and the first techniques to be integrated into a cuisine that you may never have tried before! Together, you’ll explore exotic flavours while celebrating local gastronomic treasures. The watchword: “we need colour! Vegetables will be in the spotlight, of course. Martine will explain what you need to do, while taking great care to ensure that it looks just right. You concentrate, while letting your eyes admire the view from time to time. Everyone has their own task, and it’s also a team effort to put together the menu! With all the different scents, colours and textures, you’re beginning to feel hungry…

Make way for

tasting!

Martine stays close to you, not hesitating to correct you with a smile if you’re not looking your best. Folding egg rolls or spring rolls is not necessarily the easiest! You compose as you please, allowing each of you to make your creations with the products you like, while helping each other with certain gestures. As for the waste generated, don’t worry, it will be used to feed the compost outside or Germain and Martine’s chickens. More precise techniques can be taught to you, such as cutting up salmon if it’s on your menu. You watch the platter fill up with the dishes you’ve all prepared together. You’re filled with pride and can’t wait to enjoy your work. Once you’ve concocted your delicacies, it’s time to share the fruits of this culinary adventure together. Delighted with what you’ve learnt, you promise to do it again, thanks in particular to the technical sheet that Martine gives you after the workshop.
