3rd Granville Terre et Mer Tourist Office Conference to help build the new Granville Terre et Mer tourism strategy

3rd Tourist Office Meeting

After the 2 previous Granville Terre et Mer Tourism Stakeholder Meetings, which contributed to the implementation of the 2019-2023 tourism plan, the time has come to take stock and co-construct Granville Terre et Mer’s new tourism strategy. To this end, on Tuesday 28 November 2023, the Tourist Office invited all those involved in the tourism industry, and this time more broadly, the region’s driving forces, to attend: 150 people turned up. Various questionnaires and studies had already been carried out in advance to gather essential data. On the day, it was time to reflect and work together to build the tourism of the future for Destination Granville Terre et Mer.

2019 – 2023: objectives achieved

Since 2019, Destination Granville Terre et Mer has been implementing Act II of its strategy (Act I was the creation of the Tourist Office in 2016). The main objective, which was drawn up jointly with tourism stakeholders at the time, was to increase tourist numbers in a sensible way, by spreading out the wings of the season and winning over new customers. To achieve this, the shared directives were listed: together, we had to make the Destination Granville Terre et Mer more legible, visible, high-quality, accessible and sustainable.

Annaïg Le Jossic, President of the Tourist Office

“I’m not going to give you a laundry list of the Destination’s successes in terms of visitor numbers and therefore economic benefits for the region, but I am delighted at the collective momentum already generated by this second act and the progress made in this area. But I am delighted with the collective momentum already generated by Act 2 and the progress that has been made in this area. We don’t want to rest on our laurels and be satisfied with these indicators alone. We must continue to take into account the impact of tourism on our Destination and ensure the well-being of all: we are now talking about a balanced tourism plan.

A day to take stock of the issues at stake

Tourism in Destination Granville Terre et Mer needs to be more balanced and accepted by all, taking into account the issues of concern such as employment, housing, climate change and environmental impact.
To this end, data has already been collected for months by various stakeholders in the area with the eOn Tuesday, a series of workshops provided an opportunity to look ahead together:
Workshop 1 > Destination Granville Terre et Mer in 2050: what kind of tourism for tomorrow?
Workshop 2 > Residents, secondary residents: tourists (not) like the others?
Workshop 3 > Is tourism the Destination’s Spider-Man?
Workshop 4 > What if your offer followed the rhythm of the tides?
To sum up, it’ s all about sharing the challenge of preserving the region’s quality of life.

Objective: the 2024-2030 tourism plan

Perfectly integrated into the Communauté de Communes’ regional project, the tourism plan will be broken down into broad action lines and presented to the Community Council before the summer of 2024. But in view of the directions taken in the previous plan, and the large and very positive response today from many new players in the Destination to these meetings, there is no doubt that the next Plan will be even more cross-cutting: tourism is a subject that concerns us all! The 3rd Rencontres de l’Office de Tourisme is therefore a fine addition to this edifice. And the 4th, which will take place in November 2024, should be an illustration of its new implementation from 2024.
