4th Meeting of Tourism Stakeholders

On Tuesday 26 November 2024, the Tourist Office will be inviting all those involved in tourism to the Faisanderie in Saint-Pair-Sur-Mer to work “together to adapt our offers for the tourism of tomorrow”. Eight workshops are on the programme for this 4th edition, which is eagerly awaited by professionals, covering social, environmental, technological and communication issues. Working in groups, the 135 participants had the opportunity to reflect on recruitment issues in the region, the use of artificial intelligence, and decarbonisation in their tourism offering. The day of exchanges, meetings and sharing ended with a cocktail reception organised and prepared by students from the Maurice Marland hotel school, a powerful symbol of synergies in action.

The tourism balance plan

Since 2019, Granville Terre et Mer has been working to ensure that tourist numbers are kept to a minimum. Sustainable tourism, the foundation of the Destination’s approach, was recognised in 2023 by the award of the Green Destination Gold level. Aware of everyone’s responsibility to preserve the integrity of the Destination, while offering enriching, respectful and attractive experiences, the Tourist Office and the area’s tourism stakeholders are working closely together to ensure the long-term viability of the tourism business. The tourism balance plan, the first of its kind in France, was unanimously adopted on 10 October 2024. to build a balanced, environmentally-friendly and forward-looking tourism industry, where competitiveness and sustainability go hand in hand.

The tourism plan is a strategic plan drawn up by the local authority, a strong shared direction to guide the development and management of tourism in the area for everyone: private players, town councils and local authorities in general.

Residents, professionals, institutions: all stakeholders in the balanced tourism plan

Eight workshops were held during the afternoon of these 4th meetings, focusing on the challenges of sustainable tourism, communication, recruitment, fun and innovation, all subjects at the heart of the tourism balance plan and the concerns of professionals. The aim was to adapt our offer to better welcome visitors and to acclimatise to changes for future generations.

The 135 participants were divided into groups of 15 to 40 people for the workshops of their choice, led by trainers – Marie-Claire Mallet-Taillis and Stéphanie Dorenlor – and Granville Terre et Mer staff – Anabelle Coufourier Ferrol, Amandine Launay, Estelle Cohier and Nathalie Thebault -. Together, they shared their practices and their questions, and came up with solutions to constantly evolving issues. They came away with a number of insights and keys to differentiating their response to the tourism challenges of tomorrow.
