Press Release
According to the national calendar, the official date for spring is 20 March. But it’s in April that the temperatures get milder, the days get longer and the French start getting out of the house again to enjoy themselves. And at Destination Granville Terre et Mer, we invite them to follow the rhythm of the tides as soon as they come out of hibernation. And why?
Because we’re home to the highest tides in Europe. Because we invite you to enjoy several experiences in the course of a single stay, and even in the course of a single day. Because that’s what we’re all about: living and going with the tides, organising our lives around the tides.
The 1st high tide of the season
April marks the start of the spring season, and the weather is often milder, so you can make the most of the spring tide from 8 to 11 April: admire the waves crashing on the dykes at high tide, or try your hand at sustainable fishing at low tide. In short, it’s all about connecting with nature!
Festi-Récré, the spring festival for families
For the past 17 years, Festi-Récré has been one of the best ways for families of all ages to get together in April during the spring holidays. For this year’s edition, 300 events will be on offer from Wednesday 17 to Wednesday 24 April 2024, enough to delight as many people as possible since this period covers all 3 zones.
Something new and unusual for 2024
Granville Terre et Mer has always inspired creativity – it’s in its DNA! So in 2023, we came up with the idea of showcasing the work of these artists by combining it with a taste experience with the “Pinceaux et Fourchette” tour. After the success of this tour, it was obvious for the Tourist Office to offer a version with the craftsmen: “Saveurs et Créateurs” in 2024.
Heritage: from privateers to Christian Dior
Granville Terre et Mer offers visitors the chance to discover a rich and varied heritage that traces its history. From the Hundred Years’ War, when the English attacked Granville, to the siege by the Vendéens, via the Grande Pêche campaigns, to the life of the Dior family and the famous couturier Christian Dior. From the Hundred Years’ War and the English attacks on Granville, to the siege of the Vendée, the Grande Pêche campaigns and the life of the Dior family and the famous couturier Christian Dior… all the periods covered in the guided tours offered by the Tourist Office and Granville’s museums, including the Christian Dior Museum.
