The Tourist Office in the saddle for sustainable tourism with the Accueil Vélo label

A Green Destination since 2023, Granville Terre et Mer is actively committed to sustainable tourism and to promoting soft mobility. As part of this approach, and to meet the expectations of cycle tourists, the Tourist Office was awarded theAccueil Vélo” label in January 2025. Three members of staff also support and audit local businesses wishing to join the national label, to ensure they offer a welcome and services tailored to the needs of cycle tourists.

A guarantee of quality for touring cyclists

The Accueil Vélo label certifies establishments that offer a special welcome, services and facilities for cycling tourists. Establishments that have been awarded the label undertake to provide: secure parking for bicycles (shelters, bicycle racks), a repair kit if necessary, as well as practical information on cycle routes, local services and good practice.

The Tourist Office puts the pedal to the metal to obtain the label

With this label, Granville Terre et Mer Tourist Office is taking the lead in rolling out the Accueil Vélo label throughout the region. For a year now, the introduction of the low-carbon tariff alongside committed professionals has encouraged residents and visitors to use soft mobility. The acquisition of this label and the provision of services tailored to cyclists (lockers, repair kit, bicycle racks, etc.) at the Granville information office are part of this ambition. To reinforce this commitment to developing services for cycle tourists, three members of staff from the Tourist Office have been trained in auditing local professionals wishing to be awarded the label. This scheme will enhance the region’s offer and guarantee cycle tourists a network of establishments tailored to their needs, in anticipation of the Vélomaritime route passing through the region in 20208.

What is the Accueil Vélo label?

Created in 2008 by the Comité Régional du Tourisme Centre-Val de Loire and France Vélo Tourisme, the label has been gradually rolled out thanks to the involvement of a community of regional coordinators. Today, 147 assessors monitor compliance with the criteria, and 8,861 establishments in France have been awarded the label. This certification is aimed at all tourism professionals – restaurateurs, visitor sites, accommodation, leisure sites, tourist offices – who want to guarantee a specific, high-quality service for cycle tourists.

With this new stage, Granville Terre et Mer is continuing its commitment to more responsible tourism.
