Duo Day: what's it all about?

The Duo Day is a national operation organized by the French Ministry of Solidarity, Autonomy and the Disabled and ALGEEI. The action consists in sharing a working day with a disabled person.

The aim being to change the way people look at disability, but also to generate professional opportunities.

Looking back

The Granville Terre et Mer Tourist Office team welcomed William and Kévin on Thursday November 17 and Friday November 18, 2022 for their first Duo Day, in partnership with ESAT Le Pommeret located in Bréal-sous-Montfort (manager, among other things, of the Jardins de Brocéliande – a sensory experience park).

Within the team we had two godmothers, Katy and Lucie, holiday advisors. They were responsible for introducing William and Kévin to their jobs and for creating links between them and the team. Other members of the team also agreed to play the game, sharing their daily missions.

William and Kévin found the experience enriching. They discovered our actions in terms of hospitality but also in terms of communication, responsible tourism and CSR. They felt well integrated into the team and left with a clear vision of the various jobs in a Tourist Office.

Two power duos

When Deborah, our director, asked us to take part in Duo Day, we immediately agreed. We welcomed William and Kévin in a friendly and straightforward manner. After a presentation of the destination, we were able to talk about the different professions within our Tourist Office. As a result, they were also able to inform us about their internal organization and their reception posts at Les Jardins de Brocéliande. This common thread of reception immediately enabled us to forge a special bond. They also took advantage of their 2 days in Granville to discover the local gastronomy. A great experience to be repeated.

In brief
  • Two days rich in meeting, participation and immersion
  • A precious time for sharing and an opportunity to promote diversity in business
  • An experience the Tourist Office intends to repeat
