george Orwell's "Animal Farm" is one of those terrible, funny fables which, in a childlike story with grotesque characters, raises existential questions.
Mathieu Létuvé?s stage adaptation plays with the codes of the fable and the big screen.
Anchored in a Far-West setting, the farmhouse facade, with its framed shots, is a place of projection. Drawings punctuate the story, like a children?s picture book. The actor unfolds the story like a fairground storyteller. Caliband Théâtre?s cinematographic theater is a playful, non-moralistic way of questioning our fragility in the face of democratic peril.
