For the fourth year running, the Maison du Projet opens its doors to the public in the Logis du Roi, which until 2015 housed Granville?s Museum of Art and History.
After archaeological and documentary research, photogrammetry (to be shown this summer in the form of a short video), dredging and asbestos removal at the Logis du Roi, this year?s spotlight will be on the Conservation Centre. Thanks to exceptional subsidies from the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles, the project to fit out the south and west wings of the building, to house all the municipal collections, will begin in the coming months.
Visitors passing through the doors of the Maison du Projet will be able to discover how the collections have been preserved during this period of study and reflection. The work carried out by the teams around the Museum of Art and History?s plethora of collections is considerable, although often hidden from view.
In order to better understand the job of the curator, the visitors? service has designed a game that is accessible to all, enabling visitors to discover the materials used, the factors involved in the deterioration of works of art and objects, and to answer one of the questions that curators often ask themselves: is this object in a stable condition that will enable it to be displayed properly?
The Maison du Projet is a place of exchange, learning and discovery, entirely free of charge. In July and August, it is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 2:30 pm to 6 pm. The Jardin de l??uvre, which adjoins the Maison du Projet and offers a breathtaking view of Granville harbour and the south of the corsair town, is also open for a moment of relaxation and greenery.
From July 1 to August 31, open Wednesday to Sunday.
Free for all, no reservation required.
