To mark the 50th anniversary of the Conservatoire du Littoral, Chausey?s coast guards are offering a series of events throughout the summer of 2025 (lectures, workshops and a live show) linked to the management, animation and preservation of the archipelago.

The field workshop "The extraordinary adaptations of foreshore biodiversity" is led by Pierre Noël, researcher at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle.

After a general presentation of the site, based on a landscape analysis, you will be invited to explore the foreshore. Both a graveyard for algae, shellfish and crustaceans, and a larder for other living species, the foreshore is a very special and ultra-threatened biotope. Descending to the foreshore, you'll discover the zonation of algae and molluscs on the rocks, as well as the hidden fauna of the sand (worms, molluscs and other invertebrates), before reaching the water where you can observe the vagile fauna, notably fish and shrimp. Then you'll understand why it's so important to preserve this extraordinary ecosystem.

This workshop is free and open to all, subject to availability.

The Granville-Chausey crossing is not included: please contact Jolie France to book your crossing.
