From 4 April to 1 November 2026

From 4 April to 1 November 2026, the Christian Dior Museum in Granville is presenting its new temporary exhibition: ‘Christian Dior: In Search of the Colours of Childhood ’.

Christian Dior

In search of the colours of childhood

Housed within Villa Les Rhumbs, the family home where the fashion designer grew up, this exhibition immerses visitors in Christian Dior’s early years.

Through nearly 250 works and objects – dresses, photographs, perfumes, paintings, archives and iconic creations – the exhibition traces the memories that shaped his creative world and inspired the codes of the House of Dior.

Spread over three floors, the exhibition highlights the many influences of his childhood in Granville. The gardens of Villa Les Rhumbs, the seascapes, the colours of the Normandy coast, the casino parties and the balls of the Belle Époque combine to create a true journey into the world of the young Christian Dior.

The Star

The fashion designer’s lucky charm

Another highlight of the exhibition is the star motif , the fashion designer’s lucky charm. Featured throughout the exhibition, it serves as a reminder of the importance Christian Dior attached to the signs of destiny.

This exhibition also reveals how the designer’s childhood memories have continued to inspire the various creative directors of the House of Dior, from Yves Saint Laurent to Jonathan Anderson, including the greatest figures in haute couture.

Beyond fashion, this exhibition tells a story above all else: that of a child from Granville, whose imagination – fuelled by the landscapes, colours and way of life of Normandy – shaped a designer who went on to become a global icon.

The Christian Dior Museum thus reaffirms its vital role in promoting the cultural heritage of Granville and the Granville Terre & Mer destination, by offering an exhibition accessible to both fashion enthusiasts and visitors wishing to discover the history of the famous couturier.

A wonderful invitation to rediscover Villa Les Rhumbs and to take a fresh look at the origins of one of France’s greatest fashion houses.
