Every year, the history of Normandy is revealed to the public through a major sound and light show organised at the Château de Chanteloup. It’s an exceptional show that brings together almost 300 volunteers, all committed to telling the story of Normandy.

A first edition in 2022

In July 2022, the first edition of “L’épopée normande” was published. From the creation of Normandy in 911, with the baptism of Rollon, to the terrible Second World War, the Hundred Years’ War and the Revolution, some fifty volunteers, both backstage and on stage, brought the extraordinary history of Normandy to life over the course of 3 shows.

A live choir sang the great arias of past centuries, while traditional dancers and horses and riders in arms intermingled in perfect choreography.

All culminating in a sublime fireworks display.

A fifth edition

of the Norman Epic

Since then, the show’s organisers have gone from strength to strength. More light shows, more staging, a fourth date added, and always more participants, all volunteers, to tell the story of Normandy and those who built it.

In 2026, this great show returns for a fifth edition, organised as every year on the grounds of the Château de Chanteloup. Four dates are proposed during the first week of August, organised and hosted by the Association Renaissance du Château de Chanteloup.

Practical information

Wednesday 5, Thursday 6, Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August.

The site opens at 6pm – grills and refreshments on site – last entry at 9.30pm.

Show starts at 10pm.

Adult full price: €24. Pre-sale on the website: €21.

Children (aged 5 to 12): €16.

Free for children under 5.

Profits from this show contribute to the preservation and restoration of the Château de Chanteloup, by supporting the Association Renaissance du Château de Chanteloup.
