To meet

Marc

Marc Dupard was born in Saint-Lô in 1964. Between 1982 and 2016, he divided his time between his work as an agricultural machinist and sculpture. His work with monumental machines strongly influenced his inclination towards metal and all the possibilities it offers the sculptor. From his “garage atelier” to the Atelier in Longueville, his works have taken on new dimensions. With Marc, metal heats up, twists, flattens and transforms into artistic creations imbued with sensitivity andoriginality.

To sculpt is to move

Marc Dupard

What's your background?

In 2004, I founded the Nuit des soudeurs festival, a major summer gathering of metal sculptors on Granville harbour. In 2016, I decided to devote myself full-time to my art, which enabled me to take part in the “Du Bronze au Plasma” exhibition in Coutances (2017), and also in Paris, for the Art Capital exhibition at the Grand Palais in 2018. In 2020, I become one of the first sponsored sculptors, and in 2023, I take part in the Biennial of Sculpture in Montreux (Switzerland).

What inspires you?

After animal and industrial sculpture, I’m now working on Monumental plants with the creation of a traveling exhibition, “Arboretum”, inspired by the book by Katie Scott and Kathy Willis.

Is it possible to take sculpture courses?

I offer one-day sculpture workshops in spring and autumn. On the program: creation of metal sculptures, arc and MIG welding, Plasma cutting, forging, pneumatic hammer, disc, sander… Dates and information are on the website or on my Facebook Page: marcdupard.com@Marc Dupard.

Botanik'Art

How did the festival come about?

In 2021, Armelle Touzé and I created the contemporary sculpture festival, with the aim of democratizing contemporary art and introducing visitors to Botanik’ Art artists and gardens at the same time.

Since then, the ALTERNATEUR 48°N/1°W de Donville-les-Bains association has been set up to organize the festival, which is both innovative and ecological. This year, this free, large-scale exhibition will take place in 12 private gardens and communal areas in the towns of Donville-les-Bains, Bréville-sur-Mer, Longueville, Yquelon and Granville. The route can be taken on foot or by bike. To meet Marc Dupard and the 23 internationally renowned artists invited for the weekend of May 18, 19 and 20, 2024, all the information can be found here: https: //www.festivalbotanikart.com And don’t hesitate to consult, share and print the program. It’s the key to a successful Whitsun weekend.
