Did you know?
The villa’s name – Les Rhumbs – refers to the angular space separating the 32 wind areas of the compass. It is symbolized by a mosaic wind rose on the floor of one of the house’s entrances.
The house of my childhood… I still have the most tender and marvellous memories of it. What can I say? My life and my style owe almost everything to its location and architecture.
The Christian Dior Museum, once the childhood home of the famous couturier, is a place of memory dedicated to the life and work of Christian Dior, from his childhood in Granville to the worldwide success of his fashion house. The villa “Les Rhumbs” is set in a remarkable cliff garden overlooking the sea, facing the Channel Islands. Built between 1906 and 1930 by Madeleine Dior and her son Christian, it was a major source of inspiration for the couturier. Since 1997, a temporary exhibition has been held every summer, focusing on the fashion created by Christian Dior and the fashion house that bears his name.
Enter the garden, enjoy the calm of the surroundings and take a break under the pergola. Stroll through the Dior garden in spring to discover the rose garden created by Madeleine Dior, mother of the famous couturier Christian Dior, and take in the subtle scent of roses and iodized air that make this garden so charming. Take part in summer perfume workshops in the intimate setting of Madeleine DIOR’s reading room, with its magnificent sea view. And of course, take advantage of the exhibitions to discover all the art of the House of Dior.
