Meet Sandra Vionnet, creator of Anthemis Cosmétique, at the reception of Château de Chanteloup, located in the Destination bocage. Sandra grows her own aromatic plants and transforms them to create a range of cosmetics that are healthy for both health and theenvironment. Some of Sandra’s ingredients are grown on her own plots rented from Château de Chanteloup, while others are sourced from local producers.

Flower and plant picking

in a haven of peace

After welcoming you to the cosmeticsworkshop, Sandra takes you to pick flowers and/or plants from her carefully cultivated aromatic garden. Sandra will show you how to pick the flowers delicately, and then leave you to it. At the same time, she invites you to play a guessing game to identify the different species by shape, touch and, above all, aroma! Each season offers a different palette of scents and colors, from the bewitching roses of summer to the aromatic herbs of autumn. Immerse yourself in this haven of peace, where every plant is bursting with goodness. Once you’ve filled your basket, you’ll return to theproductionworkshop, located right next to the estate’s Cider Museum.

After this bucolic stroll, the fresh harvest is put into the handcrafted dryer for around two weeks. If necessary, particularly for roses, you gently remove the petals, while the hearts are composted – nothing is thrown away, everything is transformed! Then you take your place as Sandra shares her knowledge of raw ingredients: you learn to distinguish the properties of each plant, to understand their role in cosmetic formulations and to create a personalized formula for your skin type. It’s a privileged moment to explore the richness of nature and the ingenuity of artisanal cosmetics, while developing your own skills.

Finally, you’ll get down to the nitty-gritty of making your own oily macerate from plants in the herb garden, which you’ll filter at home later. Each step is precisely guided by Sandra, ensuring a high-quality end product. All ingredients used are natural and, where possible, sourced locally to guarantee freshness and respect for the environment. Next, you’ll create a balm that’s tailored to your skin’s specific needs. A range of oils, essential oils and beeswax are on offer. Once you’ve made your selection, make sure you follow the recipe! You write down the ingredients you’ve chosen, and when your balm is ready, you watch it change texture in the bain-marie. The different scents fill the workshop, while a sweet break is offered to you. Once the balms have melted, you notice the change as they cool, and can’t resist smelling them again and testing them on your skin for immediate comfort!
