Discovering

a piece of history

Marc and Christine Huline, owners of Logis d’Equilly, welcome you on arrival. Owners since 2005 of this ancient seigniory dating from the 12th to the 18th centuries, they are committed to reviving the heritage of this listed site by transforming it into a warm and friendlywelcome. As soon as you arrive, you’ll step back in time in this “noble master’s dwelling, beautiful lord, a proud fieffe-ferme” according to a medieval document. But it’s also a ” Granvillière” that once belonged to Gilles Vasse, a frigate’s lieutenant and shipowner of Malouin origin, who sailed from Granville to fish for cod in the cold waters of Newfoundland.

Immersion

in the past

After making Marc and Christine’s acquaintance, you’ll settle comfortably into one of the 4 rooms, combining comfort and authenticity. You then have the choice of wandering through the park adjoining the pond and savoring the peace and quiet of the grounds, located in the Granvillais bocage close to the pilgrimage routes leading to the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel. You can also meet up with Marc and Christine, who will share with you the richhistory of this unique architectural site, the oldest parts of which date back almost 900 years. You’ll discover the history of the sailor families who have left their mark on the site through their presence and their love of the sea. In particular, you’ll learn that the term ” Granvillière”, used to describe the holiday homes ofGranvillian shipowners, was coined by Marc and Christine, ref.The term “Granvillière” was coined by Marc and Christine, refuting the term “Malouinières”, specific to the region around the Breton corsair town.

Living like a

shipowner from Granville

During your stay, you’ll take your owners’ advice to explore the area, including the corsairtown of Granville, 15km away. Then, like shipowners having finished their business in town, you return to the Logis to enjoy the table d’hôtes. The meal is shared with all the hosts present, as well as Marc and Christine, for an even more complete immersion in their daily lives. Your dinner is homemade from Normandy produce, immersing you in an atmosphere where time has no hold. Stories are told by the fireplace. Marc and Christine add a few anecdotes about thehistory of the site. And before you drift off to sleep, you can take advantage of the vast Empire living room, with its roaring fire in the fireplace, to read, chat or play board games.
