L'Écume des Falaises

Head to the seaside resort of Jullouville to extend the simple pleasures of a beautiful day, summer or winter, at L’Écume des Falaises. Founded in 2014 in Champeaux, then installed in 2017 in Jullouville in a large rehabilitated hangar in the heart of the town center, L’Écume des Falaises opens the doors to this casual-looking meeting place. Boutique, bar, terrace, concerts… This summer will be lively. Enjoy a locally brewed beer just 3 steps from your comfortable armchair. At L’Écume des Falaises, Chloé, Martial and Éric are true Swiss Army knives…. Or rather, Normans. From production to sales, brewing, bottling, labeling, service, advice and bar management, everything is 100% local. La Brasserie offers a selection of organic* craft beers, made on site, blond, IPA, triple… There’s something for everyone. Brewed with love by the team, they all have a nod to the region. You can feel the wild nature of the archipelago inÉcume de Chausey, La Titan with its scent of Calvados wafting from the wood of the barrels. L’Écume des nuits is matured for months in Vosne-Romanée barrels. Enjoy the Friday and Saturday evening concerts with family, friends or solo. And if you’re not into beer, there’s something for everyone. Martial et Chloé’s aim is to diversify the offer while staying local, with Meuhcola or Ça va Tea, liqueur from Distillerie Montjoie, or cider from Chanteloup to be enjoyed on the terrace. A selection of wines can also be found in the brewery’s new wine cellar. With a guided tour, an apprentice brewer and a new bottle design, autumn looks promising at l’Écume des Falaises. You can also find Écume des Falaises beers in Granville Terre et Mer’s delicatessens, wine cellars and straw huts, as well as at the Festival Toute la mer sur un plateau in early October.

A little advice

Chill the glass well before serving a lager, for the best results. If it’s a triple or amber ale, the aromas are best appreciated at room temperature.

The Barley Fairy

A little hops, water, barley malt and a pinch of yeast, and the magic happens at La Fée d’Orge. Léo, the local beer magician, has been welcoming you to his brewery in Bréhal since 2018. Léo has been concocting his own craft beer recipes since he was 15. Self-taught, then a graduate of the University of La Rochelle, he threw himself into his passion, crafting tasty beers with local produce. Blonde, pale ale, amber, triple, IPA, brunette, witbier… You’ll find what you’re looking for in his brewery boutique. The legend of La Fée d’Orge from the Normandy bocage accompanies Léo in the creation and combination of flavors, through “custom brewing”. 100% unique recipes for craft beer lovers, according to their tastes. A light lager, Saint-Martinaise, or Quokelunds for the Granville motorcycle club. Local ingredients for a Norman beer unlike any other. You can also taste his creations at La Cahute in Bricqueville-sur-Mer, Le Pirate brewery in Granville or Maiz’on in Saint-Pair-Sur-Mer. During the summer, enjoy his beers at the evening markets in Coudeville and Hudimesnil, and on Sundays in Saint-Martin-de-Bréhal, where you can tantalize your taste buds with a rosewater white ale. After 8 years in Granville’s Mesnil area, the Usine à bières has a new look. Oriane, Maëlle and Mathilde welcome you to the same address, in a bar-boutique with an industrial feel: a barrel as a table, a terrace, a long table, a game of darts, a wide choice of beers, everything you need to have a good time. At the Usine à bières, there’s something for every taste: lagers, whites, fruity beers, German, Belgian or English beers, not forgetting local Normandy beers. With over 150 options to choose from, you can enjoy the Écume de Falaises, Captain James or Les travailleurs de l’Amer beers for a taste of Normandy. The bar also offers cocktails and softs to satisfy every taste bud. Come and enjoy a beer at the Usine à bières, and spend a convivial moment with friends, colleagues or family. Oriane, Maëlle and Mathilde take their time with customers, cultivating a friendly atmosphere. After a return from the beach, a visit to the bocage or just after work, 17 draught beers are on offer, including 4 local beers that change regularly. And for a more lively end to the day, concerts, DJs and tattoo artists are regularly invited.

At the Ministère du Temps Libre, the choice is wide: 250 references of fresh, artisanal, quality beers, chosen with care and passion. Since 2021, François-Xavier has been introducing visitors to the flavors of craft beer with style. Whether they come from Europe, France or Normandy, they all have their own particularity. The selection of beers changes regularly, both in the store and at the bar, adapting to the brewers and the seasons. With 8 draught beers changing every two weeks, you’ll find something to satisfy your taste buds. And to surprise them, there’s no shortage of original beers, from strawberry-chocolate and banoffee-flavored “dessert beers” to tangy, fruity beers, to name but a few of the less “far-fetched”. Le Ministère du Temps Libre is a cosy bar-boutique, with a vintage decor and a comfortable sofa for enjoying a beer without seeing the time go by. Above all, it’s an opportunity to discover new flavours with the 4 galopins discovery platter or the tasting workshops, led in good spirits by François-Xavier and his Granvillian partners – the Carnaval des fromages and the Contremarche – to become an ace at combining beer and cheese, or to find the perfect beer pairing for your next Christmas dinner.
